The Buffalo Bayou Partnership has five boats docked along the bayou that are used to keep the water clean and to conduct tours along the historic waterway. Crime Stoppers' Katherine Cabaniss says it was the boats that were the targeted on July 6th.
"Two of those boats were heavly damaged by fire, by some arsonist who jumped the fence, bypassed their security and committed this crime."
She says some very expensive equipment was also dumped into the bayou and the burned boats were set adrift. Damages totalled more than 150-thousand dollars. Cabaniss says anyone with information leading to an arrest will be eligible for a reward of up to 6-thousand dollars. That's a larger reward than usual.
"We've increased the reward in this case because we recognized that this is a significant crime, not only for the Buffalo Bayou Partnership, but really against our city and our community as a whole."
