"We already see peak surcharges for Thanksgiving and Christmas where they’re going to charge ten, twenty and thirty dollars more during the holidays. We’ve also seen US Airways, Frontier and Midwest say they’re going to charge through May and even for spring break."
The latest new fee comes from American Airlines. That airline says it’s going to start charging between 19 and 39 dollars extra for seating in the first few rows. Houston resident Marcus Roberts the public should say enough already.
"Whatever big companies throw at us, they feel like we have to take it, but I don’t feel like that. I’m a rebel pirate. I’m like, let’s throw the rocks at them and let them know, 'hey, we ain't gotta take this from ya’ll'."
Despite all the fees, Parsons says there are also lots of deals out there. One of them comes from JetBlue, which is offering unlimited air travel out of Houston for a month for $499.
"You can fly anywhere in their system and that means that’s over fifty U.S. cities over 16 international destinations and you pay one flat fee of 499 dollars if you fly on any day of the week, any seat available for sale that means if the plan has one seat open you can use it as long as you don’t fly on a Friday or Sunday."
If you’re wondering what the catch is, Parsons says there isn’t one, but you have to buy the ticket by Friday.
