Comcast released a survey exploring fall viewer trends. And Diana Kerekes with Comcast says technology is shifting viewership.
"We did a survey to really see 'are people excited about fall TV?' What do they want to watch? And more importantly, how they're going to watch. And three-quarters of the customers in Houston are going to be using time-shifting technologies like on-demand, digital video recorders and the Internet. More than half plan to use DVRs, 13 percent plan to watch on-demand and online."
Kerekes says high-definition programming is becoming more available.
"There's more and more HD choices available if you're on 'on-demand.' And again, you can program your DVR, so you know, these technologies are getting easier and easier to use. There's more and more programming on them. And it really allows the customers in Houston to figure out what they want to watch, when they want to watch it and how they want to watch."
Six out of ten Americans now own a DVR. The survey shows that time-shifting TV programs has more than doubled in the past year. Over 40 percent of Americans now make plans to record their favorite shows and watch them later.
