Examples include upgrading your home heating and cooling system, sharing a ride to work or school, postponing using gas engines like lawnmowers until after 6pm, avoiding drive-thru lanes, and taking your lunch to work. James Patterson is Precinct Four commissioner for Fort Bend County.
"Our solution as a county, we are actively looking at three more park and ride locations. The tough part is you have to go through a little bit of bureaucracy. We can all drive out there today and we could all pick the right site but you have to go through a process a say is that the right site or is some crazy one it."
They say one bus takes about 58 cars off the road. If taking the bus isn't for you, there are plenty of other things you can do to reduce your commute.
