Since the beginning of this year, pianist Clive Swansbourne has been celebrating the two-hundredth birth-anniversaries of Fr’©d’©ric Chopin and Robert Schumann with a six-part concert series. David Broza performs Night Dawn (Silver Dollar) and the nine other newly-crafted songs for which he wrote tunes to accompany unpublished lyrics and poems by legendary country-folk singer-songwriter and former Houstonian, the late Townes Van Zandt.ξDavid's performance is a benefit for Linda Lowe's Writers in the Round songwriters' series, and it takes place tomorrow night in Main Street Theater's Chelsea Market playhouse. Houston's Piping Rock Singers perform Renaissance-era songs about Love, both Sacred and Profane, this eveningξ in the Sanctuary of Christ the King Lutheran Church.ξThe singers will be accompanied by Bayou-City-based string ensemble, Z-Viols, led by gambist, Mary Springfels, the former director of The Newberry Consort and they'll be conducted by the group's new Artistic Director, Isabelle Ganz.
