After a rough and tumble primary race, there wasn't much suspense last night as Perry led both Hutchison and Debra Medina by a large margin. His biggest challenge, to win the race outright and avoid an April run-off, which he did.
He says the GOP isn't even close to being dead.
"There were folks who were watching the national campaign in 2008 and they started to celebrate and what they considered to be the end of the Republican Party and the final nail in the coffin of American conservatism. But there were a string of victories that have come along here lately. There was a victory in New Jersey, there was a victory in Virginia, there was a victory in Massachusetts and now there has been a victory in Texas."ξξ
Perry will now reload and get ready for what could be a rough battle with former Houston Mayor Bill White over the next 8 months. Early polls show Perry with a comfortable lead over White with a long way to go before the November election.
