HPD's March On Crime

It began in 1984.ξ The purpose was to use the media to get crime prevention information to people in high crime neighborhoods.ξ In 19-91 it was expanded to all areas of the city. Acting HPD Chief C-A McClelland says this year March on Crime will highlight crimes that are difficult to solve but are preventable.

"Burglaries of motor vehicles and thefts."

McClelland says it pays to be proactive with this type of crime.

"Protect yourself by securing your valuables and not leave them open in your vehicles.ξ It's a crime that's certainly preventable and it happens too often in this city."

Throughout the month officers will be reaching out to businesses and communities with information about crime prevention.
