Shepherd School of Music faculty artist, Brian Connelly, plays the last of Beethoven'sξ32 piano sonatas and Robert Schumann's suite of fantasias called Kreisleriana, in the first-ever solo piano recital presented by the chamber series, Music in Context.ξMr. Connelly, who speaks with KUHF's Catherine Lu, performs the works on the kind of instrument on which the pieces would have been played when they were new: Context's 1825 Conrad Graf instrument from Vienna.ξThe concert takes place, Sunday afternoon atξ4:00PMξin Duncan Recital Hall in the Shepherd School of Music building on the Rice University campus. Singer Etty Ben-Zaken, and her husband, composer-arranger, Eitan Steinberg, are joined by Houston guitarist Marc Garvin, co-host of KUHF's Saturday evening series, "Pulling Strings," for The Bride Unfastens Her Braids; The Groom Faints, a program of Jewish folk songs in English, German, Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino and Spanish. The recital, presented by the Jewish Community Center of Houston, takes place Sunday afternoon at 4:30PM at the Dowling Music retail store. Ben-Zaken and Steinberg gather in teh Geary Performance Studio for a preview session hosted by KUHF's St. John Flynn. Listen Download
