KUHF's ξCatherine Lu speaks with violinist Peter Winograd of the American String Quartet, long-time Ensemble-in-Residence at both the Aspen Music Festival and the Manhattan School of Music.ξThe Houston Friends of Music and the Shepherd School of Music present the American String Quartet in recital, tonight atξ8:00PM in Rice University's Stude Concert Hall.ξThe Quartet plays pieces by Haydn and Prokofiev, and then they are joined by Menahem Pressler, the pianist of the Beaux Arts Trio, in the Second of the two Piano Quintets by Anton’_n Dvor’k. Dominic Walsh Dance Theater presents 1909 to 2009: The Great Collaborators of the Ballets Russes ... their twenty-first-century re-working of some of the classic pieces from the repertoire of Sergei Diaghilev's pioneering early 20th Century Paris-based dance troupe, the Ballets Russes.
