There will be ten different inspection stickers in all and each will feature a cowboy motif according to the Department of Public Safety's Tom Vinger.
"For example, one has a cowboy on a bucking bronco; another has a cowboy roping, a cowboy carrying a Texas flag."
The new stickers available now are for counties that do not require emissions tests. The counties that do will get their own stickers.
"Houston and Dallas areas will get two new inspection stickers because there are two separate emissions tests, one will have a cowboy carrying a saddle the other will be a stagecoach."
Vinger says the new sticker design pays tribute to our heritage, but more importantly they help confound counterfeiters.
"Any document that is out there, government document, is counterfeited. Inspection stickers are no different. So by coming up with new inspection stickers periodically it does help deter the counterfeiters to some degree."
The new stickers will be rolled out over time but be assured, which ever kind of sticker you get, old version or new, it will be a valid until its expiration date.
