"If you know what's going on around you, you know what to look for. If you see a trend of burglaries or burglaries of motor vehicles or robberies are happening you know...should be a little more careful."
The site is said to be pretty user friendly. A click here or there and you can find out what crimes are occurring where, or specific phone numbers you can call if you know about a crime. Since the police records are already computerized, the data goes to a central computer each day and so the system will be updated every 24 hours.
"So if you want to know what happened yesterday on your street, you can put in the 100 block of your street — after 8am — and you'll find out what crimes occurred on your street."
