Seventeen year old Stephanie Canales couldn't hold back the tears as she described Henry Canales, a sixteen year veteran of the Houston Police Force, the man she knew as dad.

"He served many years getting criminals off cross the street to make this city a better place for you and me. I am honored to have such an amazing father that impacted so many lives."

The investigation into Officer Canales death is just getting under way. The department says he was working undercover and was shot by a man who wanted to buy stolen televisions. That suspect was shot and killed by another officer at the scene.

Hundreds of Houston law enforcement officers packed the Grace Community church to say goodbye to one of their own. Sheriff Adrian Garcia says this tragedy is a reminder of how dangerous their jobs can be.

"I tell them to be careful, to make sure that they are always taking time to give praise and honor to their family, and to our good Lord, but most of all to practice all the things that we've trained on. This is what we look to keep us save and to do the best job they can."

(Sound of guns firing a salute).

"He loved us more than anything in the world and he will forever be in my heart. He is with the Lord right now watching over me. I love you so much Daddy and I will always be your princess."
