Children at Risk CEO Bob Sanborn says there is nothing subjective about the rankings. Placement, often times very close, depends solely on numbers.
"We're looking at a number of different factors, most importantly being graduation rate. How are these kids doing? How are these kids doing over four years? Are they actually graduating?ξ And, we're looking at a lot of test data and our data is very specific to: are we preparing our children to on to college, because that's where parents want their kids to be."
"This years number one high school Carnegie-Vanguard"
"Carnegie-Vanguard is the only Vanguard high school in HISD that is 100% gifted and talented."
Ramon Moss is Carnegie's principal. He says his school hasn't been in the top ten before because it's only seven years old, but that people are beginning to take notice.
"We're no longer one of the best kept secrets of HISD, nor are we the little school that could, but our name is out there and with our accolades accumulating almost on a weekly bases we're starting illustrate what we can really do."
