"They're going to come back to us with probably a bunch of names and some ideas. And then we work towards moving down to a number that we'd be interested in interviewing and then we'd probably come up with finalists. And then, at the end of the process, we end up making a selection."
If you're wondering why the board doesn't save that 100-thousand and go through the selection process themselves, Moore says there's simply too much time involved. And they need someone who can do it full time.
"There's really not a whole lot of people who can do the job the way we want it done, but you don't want to miss any. Frankly, when the future of so many kids are at stake, you do what a lot of large organizations do, which is to use someone that's an expert in managing the process."
The board doesn't have to rush because superintendent Abe Saavedra isn't officially done until 2010, but Moore says ideally, they'd like to have the man or woman in place by next fall.
