In a time of daily news about layoffs, Tri-Net finds that more than two-thirds of smaller businesses still plan to hire talent in 2009.Î¾ Even in this tough year, more than 80 per cent of respondents tried to hire in 2008.Î¾ Tri-Net's Steve Harris.
"What we have seen is that hiring — net-hiring — is looking very flat at this point.Î¾ What we're not seeing, though is we're not seeing any downturn in what I would refer to as 'opportunistic hiring,' meaning that as these groups are finding individuals that have the talent that they're looking to attract to their organization, that there's no hesitation for them to want to get these people on board."
Harris says companies are also analyzing current staff performance.
"These companies are employing strategies and processes that are implementing performance management systems so that they can better evaluate the current talent that they have within their organization, so that they can better track the individual performance to the achieving of the corporate goals.Î¾ Anytime organizations are having to analyze their workforces, that those most talented people are never spared — if they are released, that they're finding homes in new jobs very quickly."
