The committee was appointed almost immediately after the hurricane to look into complaints that some state and local agencies didn't do a good job of preparing the public for the storm, and haven't done a good job of helping people in the aftermath.
The committee chairman, Houston State Representative Sylvester Turner, says they're reviewing the state and local government response to the hurricane, to find out what went right and what went wrong. He says the goal is to help the various agencies do better the next time they're faced with a public emergency of that magnitude.
The fourth in a series of six public hearings will be held tomorrow at 10am, at Lone Star College in Tomball.Î¾ A fifth hearing will be held at 10am Thursday at the Parks and Recreation Community Center in Missouri City. The sixth and final hearing will be held January 7th in Galveston at the Galveston Island Convention Center on Seawall Boulevard.Î¾
