"It gave us a little money but still time is important. If it takes you a long time in traffic then you can't come back in time to get another fare."
Sharon Cryder is a receptionist who has to drive from Alvin to Houston each day. Since Ike, an already long commute has gotten almost unbearable.
"One day it took me two hours to get home and one time I got it down to an hour and 40 minutes."
Cryder says things have gotten a little better since they started putting traffic officers at major intersections. Still many Houstonians who used to complain about a half hour commute would give anything to have those days back.
