"We will be opening the final two direct connector ramps. The I-10 east bound direct connector ramps to Beltway-8 northbound and southbound will open this weekend sometime on Sunday afternoon. So, drivers coming in on Monday will now have access from I-10 eastbound to Beltway-8 north and south."
The four eastbound main lanes of the freeway will be striped from Highway-6 to west of Washington Avenue. McWashington says that next week's planned closing of the KATY H.O.V will now take place September first.
"The closing marks the final striping activities that will begin on the I-10 westbound main lanes. Those final striping activities will begin on the western end of the corridor. Contractors will proceed west and will be opening up new roadway over the course of the next six to eight weeks."
Workers will install toll equipment in the four managed lanes which are replacing the H.O.V. The entire project is set to reopen two months ahead of schedule.
