A group of about 50 people are gathered in front of the Harris County Criminal Justice Center in downtown Houston to express their support for John Hernandez’s family.

Hernandez died after an altercation outside of a Denny’s in east Harris County on May 28.

The second hearing for Terry and Chauna Thompson, who are charged with murdering Hernandez back in May, was scheduled for today, but it has been reset for a later date.

“No justice, no peace” and “Justice for John” are some of the phrases the crowd is chanting.

After meeting with officials from the District Attorney’s Office, Ignacio Hernandez, John Hernandez’s father, said he understands the fact today’s hearing was reset is part of the judicial process.

Hernandez and John Hernandez’s widow, Maria Toral, also thanked the crowd gathered at the entrance to the Harris County Criminal Justice Center for their support.

Randall Kallinen, the attorney for the Hernandezs, said the next hearing has been re-scheduled for September 1st.

Ignacio Hernandez stated Friday morning, “Thank you everyone for your support. We hope you will keep supporting us because we need to go on to make justice.”
