Optum To Open Two Urgent Care Clinics In Houston

Health services company Optum is branching into the business of urgent care clinics. Two of its first such clinics will open in Houston over the coming weeks.

The new clinics will treat patients of all age groups, including newborns.  Services on offer will include on-site, same-day lab and X-ray results — as well as options not generally associated with urgent care, such as cosmetic treatments.

Dr. Lisa Tseng is CEO of Optum Clinic. She says the centers will offer memberships, as part of an effort to promote better health year round.

“Included in the $19 annual membership, one can get a flu shot, an immunization screening, skin check, free blood pressure and Body Mass Index check in our clinic at any time.”

The first local Optum Clinic will open in Copperfield next week. The second will open in Tanglewood next month.

Optum is a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group. The company already employs more than 2,000 workers in the Houston area.
