Local vehicle sales topped 28,500 cars, trucks, and SUVs in November. That’s down about 7% from October, but up more than 50% compared to November of last year.
Steve McDowell is president of InfoNation and publisher of TexAuto Facts. He credits the strong monthly sales to a combination of renewed consumer confidence and the popularity of 2014 model vehicles.
“The new models that have been introduced this year are being accepted very, very well. And particularly on trucks and SUVs, that not only drove up that particular segment — and, along with it, total sales — but also drove up average sales prices to the highest we’ve ever had.”
Twelve-month sales for the period ending in November were more than 350,000 units. It marked the strongest 12-month sales period for the region since April 2008.
