State-Ordered Merger is Official: Houston ISD Now in Charge of North Forest Schools

After losing several legal challenges in court, the North Forest Independent School District is now officially closed down.

The Houston Independent School District is following orders from the state to take over the struggling school district.

North Forest employees had already cleared out the headquarters last week.

HISD maintenance crews are starting to fix up the North Forest buildings before summer school starts next week.

HISD Superintendent Terry Grier has said it’s going to cost about $3 million to fix safety issues at former North Forest facilities.
