Drivers Near the Galleria Could Face Big Traffic Delays This Weekend

Drivers need to be alert to a road closure this weekend that could cause major slowdowns near the Galleria.

Starting Friday night, TxDOT is closing the US 59 Northbound connector to the 610 West Loop Northbound.

TxDOT’s Danny Perez says crews will do repair work to fix damage caused by an oversized truck.

“The structure was fine. We just had to schedule repair to go back in there and repair the steel and the bridge deck. It was something that was needed. We’re going to go in there and try to get out of there as quickly as possible.”

And Perez says drivers on 610 need to watch for lane restrictions as well as a total closure.

“To facilitate the repair we’re going to close down the IH 610, that’s going to be the West Loop northbound main lanes at 59. That’s going to be a total closure, and that’s going to be Saturday evening starting at 10:00 p.m..  And that’s going to be until Sunday morning.”

TxDOT is set to reopen the connector by the morning rush on Monday, but Perez says they hope to have it opened earlier
