Mayor: Alleged hit-and-run by talk show host Michael Berry still being investigated

Former Houston councilman and talk show host Michael Berry is still under investigation for being involved in an alleged hit-and-run outside a gay bar in the Montrose. Mayor Annise Parker says she has been briefed on the incident, which happened January 31.

She says the fact that Berry is a public figure should not affect the handling of the case.

“That is an issue that is still under investigation. I would hope that the Houston Police Department and I would trust that the Houston Police Department gives a thorough and diligent job to everyone who complains. And I am not aware of any special treatment.”

Berry’s vehicle allegedly backed into a car belonging to the bar’s bouncer. Berry has not been charged, and he declined to comment when contacted by KUHF.

Earlier this week, he said on his syndicated radio show that he was being targeted in a smear campaign.
