Another Jump In Houston Gas Prices

Houston gasoline prices go up another 3.4¢ a gallon in the past week, for an average of $3.46 for a gallon of regular unleaded. The price is .05¢ lower than the national average.

The national average for a gallon of gasoline was pegged at $3.51, rising 4.5 cents the past week. Patrick DeHaan is senior petroleum analyst for He says gasoline prices have perked up a bit in the last week, but cautions that as we move towards warmer weather, gasoline prices will follow.

“That’s right, gas prices will continue to accelerate, especially in April and May as we start to switch over to our summer formula, essentially the EPA madated cleaner burning gasoline for air pollution, so that there’s not as much smog. That costs motorists more, and we can expect that those increases will really start heating up in late March early April, lasting through the Memorial Day holiday.”

Including the change in prices in Houston during the past week, prices yesterday were almost .23¢ per gallon more than a month ago, and nearly .49¢ higher than the this time last year.
