Missouri City Finally Gets Second Park and Ride

Today Missouri City finally gets its second park and ride facility. The service doesn't officially start until Monday but it's a welcome addition to the area.

Back in April METRO was still searching for a location for Missouri City’s new park and ride.

Now they’ve settled on the Kroger parking lot on highway 6 at Knight Road. This is a temporary location and a more permanent one will be decided by 2014.

The second park and ride pick-up is at Beltway 8 and Fondren Road.  The service will then proceed directly to connect with the light-rail downtown line.

Missouri City Mayor Allen Owen says this is an important development for the area.

“It’s a nice thing for us to have and I know that our citizens are gonna benefit greatly.”

Over 27,000 of these citizens commute to the Texas Medical Center. This number is expected to increase to nearly 32,000 by 2035. Service times, fares and updates for the new park and ride are at Ride METRO .
