The Texas Workforce Commission released the seasonally adjusted figures today. The commission’s Lisa Givens says that total non-farm employment was up by 22,700 jobs in Texas last month.
“The Texas unemployment went down for February from 8.3% to 8.2%”
There was also positive news about jobs and unemployment in the Houston area.
“The rate went down from 8.8% to 8.4% in February, and the area added 9,600 jobs.”
Eight out of eleven industries saw increases in jobs here, with the largest gains in leisure and hospitality, and education and health services which each added about 2000 jobs.
Statewide the professional and business services added more than 14,000 jobs. The Workforce Commission says Texas has posted positive jobs growth in 12 out of the last 14 months over a broad range of industries.
The national unemployment rates stands at 8.9%.
