Judson Robinson says while unemployment among young people is better here than in many other states it is still at a crisis level and that can lead to chronic problems for the whole community. Robinson says the problem needs to be addressed not only here but in Congress.
“We’ve come to Congress with some specific recommendations and some House bills are currently on the floor for consideration and discussion which we will encourage our Senators and Congress people to support.”
He says locally efforts are also being made.
“Last year we were very successful in working with over a hundred youth who were able to not only work and gain a valuable skill, but also be in a position to help prepare themselves for the upcoming school year.”
TheNational Urban League’s report for the first time addressed inequalities among Hispanics saying they faced problems similar to African-Americans.
