Still No Sign of Missing Energy Exec

The family of missing Houston energy executive Doug Schantz is making a plea to the public for help. Schantz went missing early Friday while on a business trip in New Orleans. Bill Stamps has the latest.

54-year old Doug Shantz hasn’t been seen since leaving a New Orleans Bar around 2am Friday morning. While Authorities in New Orleans investigate, Schantz’s son and colleagues are saying what little they can at this point. This is Mike Schantz.

Schantz's son “I just want to reach out to the community of New Orleans to help me find my loving father. Not only is he a great role model to our family, but he’s a great role model to everyone who knows him. He’s such a good dad, his wife my mom misses him and we just want anyone who knows anything to contact Crimestoppers.”

Schantz is President of Houston based Sequent Energy Management. He was in New Orleans to give a 25-thousand dollar gift to Tulane University’s Energy Program. Schantz’s daughter is a student at Tulane. There’s surveillance video of him leaving a Bourbon Street bar, but police say there a few other clues.

Two of his colleagues John Somerhalder and Pet Tumminello had this to say:
“Our main concern is very clear and that is to return Doug to his family as soon as possible. Clearly any information anyone has that can help is very much appreciated.”

“He would immediately respond to emails. Doug immediately returns phone calls. Doug quickly responds to text messages. His disappearance is 180 degrees, uncharacteristic of Doug’s qualities. The employees here are all engaged in prayer to bring him back.”

While investigators in New Orleans aren’t saying much about the case, they have said they suspect foul play. They say Schantz’s credit cards, ATM and cell phone have not been used.
