Senator Cornyn says people in Massachusetts voted for Scott Brown in order to send a message:
“They are simply fed up and tired of being shut out of the process.”
By electing the Republican candidate, voters in one of the most solidly liberal states in the Union have trimmed the Democrats’ filibuster-proof 60-40 advantage to a much more vulnerable 59-41.
“They got a seat a t the table. And that’s what we’ve been wanting all year, is a seat at the table where we can work together on a bipartisan basis to come up with solutions to the problems facing our country. Nothing more, nothing less.”
Cornyn added that as one of the states least affected by the economic recession, Texas should serve as an example of Republican principles in action — including low taxes, limited regulation and aggressive tort reform.
