Julie DeLeon is entering information for her friend on the FEMA website. They came to this Ike help center after hearing there was a place they could go with free online access and help from staff members. Julie is trying to get help for her friend who’s house was damaged by Hurricane Ike.
“Her ceiling, because the water went inside. Her house is a two story house, so the ceiling from upstairs is falling down.”

The help center is run by the One Economy Corporation, a non profit group that helps the poor and minorities. With the help of AT&T, they’ve turned a regular RV into a traveling help center. Jane Montoya is one of several people who go from city to city helping people after a natural disaster. And amazingly, they are all volunteers.
“If you’re blessed, if you have everything if you don’t want for anything you should help others, and even if you do, you can always help. ”
The company’s goal is to help end poverty. Montoya knows some say that goal is unrealistic.
“Whether it is or it isn’t, you can still try.”
