The Alvin, Channelview, Deer Park, Katy, Galena Park, Pasadena, Spring and Sheldon school districts will be closed tomorrow, and may remain closed longer depending on local conditions.
Houstons First Academy will also be closed tomorrow.
La Porte School districts will be closed tomorrow and Wednesday.
These districts say all events and activities scheduled for this evening and tomorrow have been canceled and will be rescheduled.
Houston Independent School District officials say classes are still in summer break, but all football practices and other outdoor activities have been canceled until Wednesday at the earliest.
The district has also canceled a “summer leadership institute” conference for school administrators and new teachers that was planned for tomorrow at Reliant Center. The week-long leadership conference started today, but with the approach of Tropical Storm Edouard, officials say tomorrow’s session is canceled. It is expected to resume on Wednesday.
Universities have begun announcing closures as well.
The University of St.Thomas and Houston Baptist Academy have canceled Tuesday classes.
University of Houston-Clear Lake is closing at 3 pm today and the University of Houston’s Main Campus and Downtown are closing at 5 p.m. The Clear Lake and Downtown campuses will be closed Tuesday. The University of Houston at Sugar Land and Cinco Ranch will be closed Tuesday. All are expecting to re-open on Wednesday.
Main Campus will be closed during the day Tuesday, but will re-open for evening classes beginning at 5 p.m..
Houston and Alvin Community Colleges, as well as, Brazosport and San Jacinto College, South Texas College of Law, Texas Chiropractic College have all canceled Tuesday classes.
