More defense witnesses will be taking the stand at the Enron trial before Jeff Skilling. Houston Public Radio’s Ed Mayberry reports. Aired 4/5/06 during the KUHF Morning Business Report.

Former Vinson & Elkins attorney John Mark Metts, who worked as executive vice president in corporate development at Enron, said former CFO Andy Fastow was upset that his LJM partnership had to play by the same rules as other companies vying for Enron’s wind farm business. But Metts said Jeff Skilling was supportive of Metts’ position.

Former Enron EBS human resources director Marla Barnard and former employee Sarah Davis both said Enron was redeploying EBS workers–not laying them off. They countered testimony by that division’s CEO Ken Rice that Enron was hiding layoffs.

Defense lawyer Dan Petrocelli says former Enron general counsel John Derrick and Max Hendrik, the Vinson & Elkins lawyer who led the investigation of Sherron Watkins’ memo–will take the stand as a prologue to Jeff Skilling.
