U.S. Marines are returning from Iraq and other areas of conflict, only to face another challenge… adjusting to civilian life. The Marine Corps is helping with life after the military and employers are participating too.

The Marine for Life program helps more than 27,000 honorably discharged Marines adjust to civilian life by helping them with a number of issues from housing to navigating the VA system for the injured. Sgt Tony Martin says Houston area expects to see more than 750 honorably discharged Marines. One important area necessary for a successful adjustment is finding a job.

Greg LeBoeuf enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves in 1998. The Sgt served in Iraq for seven months. After returning home, LaBuff took six weeks off and then started the job search. LeBoeuf turned to Marine for Life for the networking opportunities.

LeBoeuf connected with NEON Enterprise Software Incorporated where he has already set records for the company. CEO Don Pate says before meeting LaBuff, his company started listing characteristics they wanted to see in future employees. NEON is one of 250 area employers who participate in the Marine for Life program.

Pate says the business world is a competitive landscape and the military provides some of the most competitive people there are.
