Houston Matters Town Hall: The African-American Community’s Relationship with Law-Enforcement

Posted on · On this special edition of Houston Matters, we devote an entire hour to exploring the relationship between Greater Houston police and Houston’s black community with a number of guests in front of a live audience at Houston Public Media. We look at how Houston is faring in building relationships and bridging the divide between law enforcement and the African-American community. We consider whether Houston has the same problems as other parts of the country and what steps already exist — or can be taken — to address those divides, particularly in light of nationwide division brought front and center through the 2016 presidential election.

Fehling most recently served as energy and environment reporter for News 88.7, the organization's public radio station, and as the Houston-based reporter for StateImpact Texas, a reporting project of NPR stations.

Houston Public Media to Broadcast Houston Symphony Season Preview

The program, hosted and produced by Houston Public Media's arts and culture producer Catherine Lu, will feature interviews, insights and musical selections to highlight the upcoming season at Jones Hall.

Posted on · In a project that began before the tragedy in Orlando, Houston Public Media is exploring the aftermath of the 1991 tragic "gay bashing" murder of 27-year-old banker Paul Broussard in Montrose through a documentary and live televised town hall discussion airing during Houston Pride Week on June 23 at 8 p.m. on TV 8 and online.
