‘You Might Be From Texas If…’ Book of Cartoons Frames What Makes Texas…Texas

Houston cartoonist Nick Anderson talks about his collection of cartoons about Texas.

Those are just a few entries in the collection of cartoons by former Houston Chronicle editorial cartoonist Nick Anderson called You Might Be From Texas If… illustrating some of the quintessential things that make Texas, well…Texas.

For more than a dozen years, Anderson worked as the cartoonist for the Chronicle and won a Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning in 2005.

Anderson’s not originally from Texas (he’s originally from Ohio), but he says he took extra care to make sure he truly caught the essence of Texas.

Back in November of 2016, Michael Hagerty talked with Anderson about the book and his work as an editorial cartoonist.
