In this week’s Opera Cheat Sheet, Classical 91.7’s program director St.John Flynn and opera expert Eric Skelly discuss one of the three great operas Mozart wrote with librettist Lorenzo da Ponte, Così fan tutte (subtitled La scuola degli amanti), often translated as Women Are Like That (or The School for Lovers). Two young soldiers, Guglielmo and Ferrando, decide to test the faithfulness of their fiancées, sisters Fiordiligi and Dorabella, by disguising themselves and courting the other sister…and comedy ensues!
