The Front Row

The Front Row – Mercury Baroque

Artistic Director Antoine Plante and six members of his Mercury Baroque orchestra perfom live, previewing Exotique!, their concert of French Baroque pieces that evoke foreign, faraway lands!

Baroque French composers, such as Jean-Baptiste Lully and Jean-Philippe Rameau, imagined the sights and sounds of Turkey, Peru and the Americas in their stage works. Representatives of Mercury Baroque performed excerpts and discussed this “exotic” music with host St.John Flynn. The full orchestra presents Exotique! twice this weekend: Friday, October 8, 8pm (University of Houston – Clear Lake) and Saturday, October 9, 8pm (Wortham Center).
