Bernard Labadie, Music Director of the Quebec-City-based early-music ensemble, Les Violons du Roy, speaks with Bob Stevenson. Monsieur Labadie guest-conducts the Houston Symphony in performances of a Chaconne by Mozart , a multiple-soloist Concerto by Haydn and the complete Water Music by Handel in concerts in Jones Hall this weekend.  Listen Download

KUHF’s Chris Johnson hosts a studio session with Houston guitarist, Valerie Hartzell, founder and director of the “Classical Minds” Guitar Festival and Competition, which is presented each summer in association with the Texas Music Festival at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music. Ms. Hartzell and Austin-based classical guitarist, Jonathan Dotson, present a charity concert, tomorrow evening in Dudley Recital Hall in the Fine Arts.  Listen Download

The Fourth Annual Fayetteville Chamber Music Festival opens tomorrow evening  with an all-Czech program of small-ensemble works by Bohuslav Martinu, Antonín Dvorák and German-born Prague resident, Carl Maria von Weber. On Saturday, the Festival presents two recitals with pieces by composers ranging from Mozart , Mendelssohn through Grieg and Brahms to two turn-of-the-Twentieth-Century Swedish masters, Tor Aulin and Wilhelm Stenhammar.   All performances take place in the Moravian Room of the Country Place Hotel on the central square of downtown Fayetteville, Texas.  KUHF’s St. John Flynn joins musicians from the festival for a preview session in KUHF’s Geary Performance Studio.  Listen Download
