Today, we have a studio performance by one of our nation’s most distinguished pianists, Seymour Lipkin, who presents an all-Beethoven recital for Da Camera of Houston this evening at the Menil Collection. We also speak with his student Jessica Osboune and her colleague Dorian Vandenburg-Rhodes who are members of the new Werther Ensemble

KUHF’s St. John Flynn talks with Joseph Evans and Buck Ross about the two operas being presented by the Moores Opera Center at the University of Houston. Alternating performances of Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Janacek’s Cunning Little Vixen open Thursday in the Moores Opera House. Listen Download

presents the distinguished American pianist, Seymour Lipkin, in an all-Beethoven solo recital, this evening at 7:30PM at the Menil Collection. The performance is sold out but, you can hear an in-studio performance with Maestro Lipkin hosted by KUHF’s St. John Flynn on today’s program. KUHF’s Chris Johnson, speaks with violinist Dorian Vandenberg-Rodes, founder and Artistic Director of Houston’s new Werther Ensemble … along with pianist Jessica Osborne.  The Werther Ensemble makes its debut this week with two concerts of Music from the Romantic Era.  Ms. Osborne presents a solo recital of pieces by Schubert, Rachmaninoff and Chopin tonight at 7:30… and then on Thursday evening, also at 7:30PM, she joins Ms. Vandenberg-Rodes, violist Lorento Golofeev and cellist Lachezar Kostov for chamber music by Brahms.  Both concerts take place at Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church.
