Clive Greensmith, the cellist with the Tokyo String Quartet, speaks with KUHF’s Chris Johnson. Mr. Greensmith and his colleagues open the Houston Friends of Music’s 49th recital season with a program of Haydn, Mendelssohn and Beethoven, tonight at 8:00PM in the Shepherd School of Music’s Stude Concert Hall on the Rice University campus. Artistic Director Julia Becker has staged Irish playwright Martin McDonagh’s gruesome comedy, The Pillowman, as the inaugural offering of her new theater company, Killdozer Productions. Actors Clay Ratcliff and Ilich Guardiola, play the “good cop” and “bad cop,” Tupolski and Ariel, who use those “enhanced interrogation techniques” you’ve been hearing about on the news to question the play’s main character, a writer named “Katurian.” There are three more performances of The Pillowman, this Thursday, Friday and Saturday night at 8:00PM at the Express Theater in the Northwest Shopping Mall.
