We have two studio performances on today's show — both of them related to this year's Texas Music Festival at the University of Houston's Moores School of Music. Guitarists Jonathan Dotson and Austin Moorhead are faculty-artists at this year's "Classical Minds" Guitar Institute and then seven of the veteran musicians who are coaching the young artists enrolled in this summer's TMF orchestral program play portions of Beethoven's Septet for Winds and Strings…

Austin Moorhead and Jonathan Dotson, faculty artists at this year’s “Classical Minds” Guitar Festival at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music, present a duo-recital, this afternoon at 5:00PM in Dudley Recital Hall as part of the 20th Anniversary edition of the Texas Music Festival. The 20th anniversary Texas Music Festival at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music presents its final Festival Artist Series chamber-music recitals for 2009. Distinguished faculty artists from this year’s Festival perform Blockbusters By Request. Beethoven’s Septet for Winds and Strings … and Mendelssohn’s Octet for Strings …this evening at 7:30PM in the Presidential Conference Center at Texas A-and-M University in College Station … and tomorrow night at 7:30PM in the Moores Opera House on the University of Houston’s central campus. They play portions of the Beethoven Septet in a session host by KUHF’s St. John Flynn. Listen. Download.
