The Chiara String Quartet plays chamber music by Erich Wolfgang Korngold in the Geary Performance Studio in anticipation of their concert for Da Camera Houston and, artists associated with the Piping Rock Singers assemble in Studio 3-C for a preview of their concert for Holy Week, Portraits of Passion

The Chiara String Quartet: violinists Rebecca Fischer and Julie Yoon, violist Jonah Sirota, and cellist Gregory Beaver, are joined by Shepherd SChool of Music Faculty Artist Norman Fischer for a preview of some of the music to be performed tonight at the Meni Collection on a concert presented by Da Camera Houston which includes the World Première of the new String Quintet: Thoughts Fly, by Shepherd School of Music composer, Richard Lavenda. The recital takes place this evening at 7:30 at the Menil Collection on Sul Ross between Mandel and Mulberry in the Houston Museum District. Tickets will be available at the door; or you can order them in advance by calling 713.524.5050. Conductor and Artistic Director Keith Weber is joined in the Geary Performance Studio by soprano Julia Fox and gamba players Mary Springfels and Brady Lanier for a sample of the tonights program presented by the Piping Rock Singers. Portraits of Passion: Musical Snapshots of the Holy Week Drama, a concert of Renaissance-era choral and instrumental pieces, relating to the Christian liturgy for the period from Palm Sunday to Easter happens tonight at St. Philip Church.
