With help from two architects, we examine a local facility that is visually appealing, functional and environmentally-friendly: The University of Texas School of Nursing Building in the Medical Center! We also enjoy chamber music presented by Context, and excerpts from a chamber opera performed live by singers from St. Philip Presbyterian Church’s Grace Note Music Series . . .
The chamber music society Context will resume its current season, Music in the Context of Time, with a program of music from the 1920s on January 27 at Rice University. Here’s a delightful past performance by Context pianist Brian Connelly from one of last season’s Dvorak in the New World concerts. Recorded by KUHF on March 25, 2007. Listen Download
Composer Conrad Susa’s chamber opera, Wise Women, re-tells the story of Christ’s birth from the perspective of the wives of the Three Wise Men. Singers from St. Philip Presbyterian Church’s production give us a live preview of their upcoming performance (Sunday, January 9, 7pm, Free). Dean Dalton also chats with music director Keith Weber & director-educator Vern Sutton. Listen Download
