As college-level musicians face semester finals, we enjoy a past performance by Rice University’s Shepherd School Symphony Orchestra.  Music Director Larry Rachleff conducts the opening movement of Symphony No. 2 by Jean Sibelius in this concert, recorded by KUHF on March 24, 2006 in Stude Concert Hall.   Listen  Download  

We get into the holiday spirit with Cantare Houston!  Dean Dalton samples music from a past Christmas concert and chats with Founder-Artistic Director Kevin Riehle, who reveals some of this year’s Yuletide delights.  Cantare Houston’s 2007 Christmas Concert will be presented in four performances, this Saturday through next Tueday, 7:30pm, at the MFAH’s Audrey Jones Beck Building.  Listen  Download

Meghan Hendley visits the latest exhibits at Lawndale Art Center.  Local artist Brian Piana’s piece, Lawndale Art Center Has Many Friends, is an abstraction of the center’s MySpace webpage.  Dallas’ Lily Hanson uses miniature objects in her installation, Differentia.  These are two of the four exhibits on view through January 5, 2008 at 4912 Main Street.  Listen  Download
