Houston Symphony music Director Hans Graf stops by to tell us about this weekend’s all-Russian HSO concerts, which will also celebrate the anniversary of the opening of the Symphony’s home, Jones Hall. Joining the Maestro will be the Orchestra’s new concertmistress, Angela Fuller to play excerpts from Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade. . .
This Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the Kemah Boardwalk will host its ninth annual Jazz Festival. Tomorrow on the show, we’ll have a live, in-studio performance by one of the impressive line-up of local artists who are appearing at the event, pianist Pamela York and her Quartet. . .
And we’ll stop by DiverseWorks to look at the wide-ranging group art exhibition currently on display there. It’s a show for an apocalyptic age. Run For Your Lives! features recent work by fourteen artists who are reacting to the array of natural and man-made disasters that have befallen the world in the five years since September Eleventh, 2001.
Join us each weekday afternoon at 3:00 for an up-close look at the Houston area arts scene on The Front Row.
