We had another installment in our series of previews of the upcoming performing-arts season in downtown Houston, leading up to the 13th annual Theater District Open House. Today, we focused our attention on the Uniquely Houston series at the Hobby Center. . .
Going into its fourth season, Uniquely Houston is the youngest of the partner organizations that host the annual Theater District Open House on the last Sunday of August. Vivian Vaughan Clark is the Hobby Center’s Director of Administration; Peter Kinser is the facility’s newest staff member, having recently taken over the position of Director of Audience Services. Meghan Hakes and Ed Vela are two of the local playwrights whose short dramatic pieces were selected for inclusion in this year’s Ten By Ten showcase. Ed also directs his own ten-minute play, and Meghan has staged the vignettes by two of the other authors. Scriptwriters Houston presents the 16th annual edition of Ten By Ten, Fridays and Saturdays at Eight P-M, this weekend and next, and an afternoon matinee this Sunday, August 20th, at 3:00, in the Lab One black-box theater on the central campus of Houston Community College, in the building on the southwest corner of La Branch and Holman, BEHIND the Heinen Theatre. Tickets will be available at the door; you can make reservations by calling 281-785-0487. Audio here.
