Administrative Assistant

Newsroom Assistant

  • Pay Rate - $10.00 hour
  • Job Description: Position will go out on assignments with reporters or on their own; assist reporters working on stories; record audio for broadcast stories; write scripts for broadcast stories; edit audio for broadcast stories. Position will learn about radio/television production, including shooting video and producing a daily show for broadcast. Other duties as assigned. Preferences: Strong writing skills and the ability to work independently. Also, must be able to meet daily deadlines and have some experience/knowledge of digital media, including websites, social media and visual media. Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license are required. Outgoing and curious personalities are a plus.

Administrative Assistant

  • Job Description: This position, under the supervision of the Arts & Culture director, provides administrative support to the staff of the Arts & Culture unit which creates content across all Houston Public Media platforms (TV 8, News 88.7, Classical 91.7 & online). Experience using searchable databases and performing basic online research is required. Familiarity with the arts (classical music, theatre, dance, visual art and literature) is preferable.
  • Specific tasks may include:
    • Search and retrieval of material from our audio archives
    • Basic maintenance of and data entry into our CD Library database
    • Maintenance of concert recordings metadata files
    • Other administrative tasks as assigned
