Houston Ballet Ends Season With “Swan Lake”

Dancers talk about the revival of Stanton Welch’s staging of the classic.

Artistic Director Stanton Welch created his version of the ballet, set to the famous score by Tchaikovsky, for Houston Ballet in 2006.

Swan Lake tells the beloved story of Odette, a beautiful princess transformed into a swan by the evil sorcerer Rothbart, and Prince Siegfried who swears his enduring love for her.

Principal Melody Mennite dances the role of Odette/Odile in the company’s revival of Welch’s staging of Swan Lake and first soloist Linnar Looris dances the Prince. They talk with Houston Public Media’s St.John Flynn.

Houston Ballet’s revival of Stanton Welch’s Swan Lake is on stage at the Wortham Center through June 15th.
